    This is funny because when it comes to plants and plant life, the average person in this country doesn’t really have common sense. If you want to try to save the tree, the best thing you could do is get rid of the damaged areas as best as possible and let the rest of it grow. You should also know that trees heal and compartmentalized wounds in a very complicated manner. So what you see is a problem. The tree could already be taken care of it

  2. Based off of this picture it looks like it’s pretty much a losing battle. But it isn’t dead yet. Remove all dead wood cleanly close to the branch collar and see what happens. It appears that it was buried too deep upon planting and had years of damage/over mulched
