Posted this in the Lithops group but got no response…

Pics 2 and 3, I’m wondering if they need a little “help” bursting through? I know you generally don’t want to cut into the old leaves and whatnot, but I’m worried about them getting smothered since they aren’t really splitting “correctly.”

Pic 4, just wondering what the heck is going on lol!

Thank you!

Personally wouldn’t intervene id give em a chance to sort themselves out especially since irregardless the old leaves will shriveled and die at which point itd be safer to give thrm help if necessary.

Your other lithops look very plump and the one on the left in the first picture may be stacking, suggesting of excessive moisture (could be due to overwatering, wrong soil, or both). Have you tried to gently squeeze the bulging part? Is it firm? Can you feel the new leaves? I’ve had lithops shaped like this that literally just turned out to be rotting at the base a few days later but I haven’t had lithops for long so I can’t give a super well-informed perspective.

Don’t cut into it. You risk exposing the plant to infection and rot when it’s this plump.

When mine get that deflated they are usually on their way to the big desert in the sky… unfortunately they don’t last forever, but some of yours look like they are growing new leaves.
