the model of the line trimmer is RLT1038X and i can't remove the head to add the line back in. i tried to push it in and twist in and to pull it out, but it won't budge. any ideas on how to fix this?

The head is damaged. The area you are trying to screw off should be sitting hard against the cutter head according to page 12 of the instruction manual.
