So far this spring I have divided up many natives and expanded the garden by 4 feet to help with overcrowding and falling over. I’ve been working to rearrange plants and add some medium height grasses to help support plants. By mid July, everything is falling and snapping.

My question is, can I pinch most natives to promote a bushier and less tall plant? I do this frequently with my annual flowers but I’m wanting to try it this year with my natives. Are there any natives this is a big no no with? And when would be the best time? Thanks!

I have too many plants to list but some in my garden that are too tall are Joe pye weed, false sunflower, echinacea, common and swamp milkweed, anise hyssop, blazing star, bee balm, yarrow, foxglove beardedtongue, grey headed coneflower, rattlesnake master
