Im pretty upset, just got back from a trip. I reminded my partner to water it but came home to find it like this, is it completely dead? Last watered yesterday and i think 4-5 days before that

That “just watered but still collapsed” look usually means the roots aren’t taking up water anymore, not that it needs more. Fittonias bounce back fast from dryness, so if it didn’t perk within hours, something’s off below the soil.

The mix looks pretty heavy too, so it can stay wet underneath and lead to root rot even with normal watering timing. I see this a lot when the schedule seems right but the roots are already compromised… 😅

I had the same plant that was completely dead sprout up again at base! Keep watering it, it may just come back.

This is a fittonia. Very dramatic plant. It thrives in humidity and will act limp and wilty upon sensing the slightest amount of dehydration. If you can, I’d get it a small humidifier or leave it in a sunny and humid room 😅
