Removed a bunch of privet saplings encroaching this area as part of a project to try to atleast restore the forest floor back to where it was originally, and all these netted chainfern/lady fern/cinnamon fern have been slowly filling in their spaces.

Any fern lovers here? I have always quite adored watching their fiddleheads unfurl in early spring, and I am curious about all the experiences people have with them.

Jealous! I’m hoping to achieve that eventually.

  3. I love ferns, they’re so graceful.

My property backs onto some woods, unfortunately fairly overrun with invasives. I’m working on restoring the woodland edge with the hope that I can slowly take over our corner back into natives. So far I’ve included ostrich fern and Christmas fern, I’m going to add some maidenhair this year.

Absolutely entirely incredibly jealous but also so happy for you at the same time. I LOVE ferns. This is a gorgeous patch. At this time I am accepting all ferns, native and non-native. I often get tons from jobs as a landscaper when people don’t want them anymore and am currently just trying to fill my space with them. I did this with all plants for a while until my yard filled in and I started removing the non-natives. I’m sure that will come, probably ghost ferns will be the first to go. But I LOVE THEM haha. Perhaps they’ll go in pots when the time comes. Anyways, love your patch. 💚
