Bought my house 2 years ago and I’ve slowly started to notice a few points in the back of my lawn starting to sink (about 1 ft in diameter, 3 ditches pretty evenly spaced).

My plan was to dig out the grass and fill with top soil, but when I dug I found this pipe/bin buried in the soil. I dug about a foot and a half deep but didn’t find a bottom and wasn’t sure if I should keep messing with it without knowing what it is. I also found a broken beer bottle in the soil while digging, not sure if that’s relevant.

We have sewer access so I don’t think it’s a cesspool or anything like that… it’s at the very back of our backyard, about a foot from our fence that separates us from a small shopping center.

Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Top of a headstone? Cant tell much from pic,
Is it metal? Stone? Doesnt look like a pipe in pic.
Also need some sense of scale.
Is that a dove engraved on it. Need better pic.
    At least i do.

See how big it is. Dig more off the top.

I don’t know but I have been having a super heavy period since I found it and now have the urge to build egg carton battery packs.

How old is the house? Perhaps there used to be a septic tank. Perhaps they were garbage bins, like in ground worm/compost bins or even outhouses.

The only reason I have these suggestions is from reading r/whatisthisthing and r/whatisit and so on!
