My favorite plant (right now) is Blephilia subnuda. It is absolutely thriving in my garden (central Alabama, zone 8a) and I can’t wait to see those lavender flowers soon!!

I’ve only been growing it for 12 months, but it has absolutely exploded in size.

Started as a little clump smaller than my fist and now I’ve propagated several new plants and expanded across the garden (see offspring #1 to the upper right)!

Not much info about the plant on the Lady Bird Johnson website. Where did you buy her?

Man I love Blephilia. Probably my favorite genus starting with a B.

Ho boy, per iNat that is a very rare plant ([only 56 research grade observations](https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?quality_grade=research&subview=map&taxon_id=159274))! It’s basically restricted to the Cumberland Plateau in Northern AL in the wild and is critically imperiled (again, per iNat). That’s super cool.

I planted Hairy Wood Mint (*Blephilia hirsuta*) a couple years ago and it’s quickly turned into one of my favorite little shade/part-shade plants. It’s really easy to grow from seed and stays rather short. The *Blephilia* species are all awesome (the only other on BONAP is Downy Pagoda Plant – *B. ciliata*)!
