I’ve had this big boi for about 7 years since it was a little thing- unfortunately he’s in rough shape after getting neglected w a new baby in the house and a move- just looking unruly and gangly and lots of leaves w brown tips. I’m thinking I should cut it waaaay back and let him re grow. Thoughts? How far back would you chop? Thanks!!

What do you have him planted in? It looks like his roots are just all out there! Maybe give him a moss pole so he’s not dropping his roots to the ground and will have something to wrap around and dig into for moisture
Gorgeous plant though! When I first saw this I was like advice?! You should be GIVING advice
Nah don’t chop! I think it looks ok. By neglect do you means you’re not watering as much?
If you want a little glow up you could top up the pot with more potting soil. You could also buy a liquid fertilizer to administer when you remember.
You can always trim a bit of the brown off the leaves if you don’t like the look of it, but don’t cut into the alive tissue (introduce bacteria).
I know they say don’t tie the petioles. But if you’re careful you can tie the bottom leaves to the main stalk and reposition them a bit. It’ll make it look a bit cleaner. Don’t bend them too much though.
(But not sure physically how I could even repot it bc so tall/big I’d need a helper or two!)
What do you call the things that attach bookcases to the walls, to prevent them from falling over? You need a big one of those
Run.
How can I get mine to reach that height? Do I need a stand?
