Post in relation to lowest rightward branch. Most conservative approach would be to remove two downward minor branches now, remove minor upward branch and thin main upward branch year 1, and then finally remove main branch stem year 2. Is this approach necessary?

I think you can get away with removing that entire branch all at once. IMO, there’s not really a good lateral branch to reduce it back to.

I would get rid of it. Half now and do the rest next year. It’s pretty big so I wouldn’t give it 2 full grow seasons because the wound would be much larger. I’d entertain maybe even taking the whole thing based on this

I’m not an arborist – I’d remove that huge branch in one go and I wouldn’t be too worried about it. That’s just me. It’d probably be safer to break it up, but I’d rather get it over with asap so the tree can focus on the main trunk otherwise it’s going to send energy to a portion that you are going to remove anyways

Percentage wise you can take the branch in one go, also keep in mind that the surface of the cut needs healing and if you cut it twice it needs to heal it again.
