During a recent storm we had a big oak tree lose a large section that fell on a Tulip tree right near it, taking out a fair bit of it in the process. I noticed that it's spilt in half up the top, sori was curious if this is going to be a big problem, or if it might recover just fine? Mostly worried that it will continue splitting because there's still a large section above the split. Thanks!

That’s pretty detrimental. I recommend removing the branches and leaving a standing trunk for habitat
I can’t call that a “lethal” injury on that tree, because it could go on and live for a while. But it WILL fail catastrophically in a future storm. If there is anything valuable for it to land on, I would recommend removal as soon as possible. If this tree is out in the middle of nowhere, and won’t land on anything or anyone, then go ahead and leave it for wildlife.
