Hi everyone! Im in las vegas, so we’ve been going through quite a rough patch with the drought and the uncharacteristically hot weather. This tree is in my front yard, and recently, it dropped much of its bark (1-2). I did a scratch test which revealed no green at all, and there is a white, web-looking substance towards the base of the trunk (3-4). Theres also a very tiny amount of a thick, almost crystalized sap oozing out of two places (5-6). There is no smell at all, the wood is still hard, the trunk is not hollow, and I haven’t noticed any insects on it. I was wondering if the loss of bark and lack of leaves could simply be due to the severe weather conditions, or if this tree is dead? Really any information would help. Pls lmk if there are any other pictures I should take!
