  1. If you learn to tie a bowline, you can put knots anywhere you want. They can't bind if tied right.

A beener won't hold a 10,000lb log. A bowline knot will, and it's super easy to unbind.

  2. Dang dude, you set me up for failure. I did this, but because you failed to mention that I needed to remove the rope once the shrub was out, I ended up dragging the shrub down the street to the gas station, then to the grocery store, eventually most of the shrub destroyed itself during my excursion but would have been nice to know that I should have removed the rope afterward.

  3. This guy was asking me about hedge stump removal..and Man this was the first thought that came to my mind..I was thinking of Doing it this way the other day..I didn't have time to do it.

  4. We always hear about “tap roots.” Notice that this shrub clump doesn’t have huge roots running down ten feet or even two feet. Many trees and shrubs live their lives like cactus. Their roots spread out round the plant and without a foot or two of the surface.

  5. A good trenching shovel will get that out before you even get the rope tied around it. I removed 10 bushes in 20 minutes doing this. imagine how long it would take to rope and pull that many

  6. Maybe I should've watched the entire video before dragging out the shrub all the way to the landfill. The deputy who pulled me over wasn't too happy.

  7. I feel it's important to emphasize that Keith is spot on here

There is no knot that you want to pull on directly with a truck. But, if you put a marline hitch after a running bowline, you could do without the carabiner. It's how heavy logs are dropped when rigging on a removal.

A carabiner will also bend or break if you do any amount of strong tugging with the truck, like on an old rose stump.

Also any carabiner you do this to should never be used for life support afterward. The carabiner should be high quality or at least very big.

The point is valid. Don't be afraid of knots, but also don't tug a bowline tight with a truck.
