I should’ve cut Fiona the Fiddle Leaf Fig back earlier to promote more branching. Or tried the notching technique. But it did neither. I moved her to the highest pitch of our home now and I’m sure she’ll touch the ceiling soon. I have a knack for making good soil so in the 5 years I’ve had her she’s grown from 3’ to 15’ (2nd photo is the same plant from Jan 2022)
I’ve never pruned it because my wife HATES the idea and suggests we train the top to grow sideways along our ceiling which I find silly.
I think we should cut it somewhere mid-height and re-plant the cutting.
What would you do if you had a partner scared of pruning shears? 😝

You gotta chop it!
Oh man! I feel for you (and for your other half!) please relay: I totally understand the hesitation towards pruning shears. I used to be that way myself. But then I realized that pruning is a necessity and entirely unavoidable! In fact, it’s actually really helpful for the plant. It encourages healthy growth and is not harmful, unless done in an inconsiderate way. Learn about pruning so you can use it as a super power in your tool box 😎
Edit: also, congrats! Fiona is beautiful
Gotta remember she’s a tree!!!!!!!
