Any suggestions on how I can save my Sago Palms? Drought and several freezes. I was told they were dead and should be replaced, but others have said i might be able to save them. Advise?

Necromancer?
This happened to mine. I chopped off the tops because they were gooey and smelled like death, but they sprouted new leaves at the bottom. It’s been years and new leaves come up every year but they’ve never gotten as big as they once were.
