These were 2 year seedlings I believe with a single long taproot between pencil and pinky width – perfect for threading through a CD hole – planted in ground.

If your seedling is small enough you can also thread the top trough a washer to get really star like planar nebari as it ground layers over it.
Looks excellent!
Just got a bunch of disassembled hinges to make some maple seedlings into forest plantings using the screw holes, hopefully works well!
