My friend gifted me this lovely monstera but I have no idea how to take care of it! It's very top heavy and I know I need to get a proper support for it. It's also very twisted at the stem, is that normal? Not sure what I should be doing

I don’t have much advice, but I’ve read somewhere that if you have the leaves away from the sun, it won’t grow to be so leggy. Unless you want that, then I’ve also seen people on here construct things on their walls so the monstera can climb.
It definitely needs more light
It’s so leggy, I’d do a few things:
Top the plant and put the cuttings into a warm bright spot.
Put the other half of the plant into a sunny window and be careful with how much water you give it.
Once the cuttings have good roots I’d repot it into a deeper pot and bury some of the stem on the main plant. Stake it. Get appropriate potting mix.
