Home Bargains is stocking a collection of garden ornaments that promise to look “mesmerising” whilst also helping to “impress your neighbours”. The retailer has become a firm favourite nationwide, offering an extensive selection of products at budget-friendly prices.

Beyond household items, the shop stocks a comprehensive range of gardening essentials, from equipment to outdoor lighting and decorative pieces. Among its newest garden ornament offerings, the retailer is now selling a set of Stainless Steel Gazing Balls from its Jardin collection.

The set comprises four assorted chrome decorative spheres, ranging in size from four inches to eight inches. They’re marketed as “floating weatherproof decorations”. According to Home Bargains, they’re lightweight and “ideal for the garden, pond or lawn”.

The product description states: “Transform your garden with the Jardin Stainless Steel Gazing Balls Set in Chrome! These stunning, polished balls float gracefully on water or shine as eye-catching ornaments on your lawn, adding a touch of elegance.”, reports the Mirror.

It continues: “A decorative gazing ball set in polished stainless steel. These balls will mesmerise you as it bobs up and down on the water, or simply place it on your lawn as an ornament to impress your neighbours! Acting as the finishing touch in any pond or decorative bowl.”

In a video previously shared by TikToker Sophie, who uses the handle @Lookinsidemygarden, she offered followers a glimpse at how she incorporated the decorations into her garden. She said: “I don’t know what it is about these Home Bargains shiny balls, but I just love them.

“Did you know you can buy them online? This is my second set, and the first ones are still going strong three years later. I just think they add a bit of interest.”

In the comment section, one person replied: “I bought these the other week I love them.” A second said: “Love your garden and your pond!” A third put: “Lovely, til it rains and rust.” Sophie responded: “3 years I have had mine and they are still great.”

Gazing balls, also known as garden globes, are intended for outdoor display and mirror the surrounding landscape. You can typically find them crafted from stainless steel, glass, or featuring vibrant mosaic patterns. They can be positioned on stands, placed in flower beds, or even left to float in water features.

Stainless steel globes are a favoured option because they’re shatter-resistant and corrosion-resistant, making them a durable choice for prolonged outdoor use. Most are hollow, allowing them to float on ponds or fountains.

It’s crucial to position glass or crystal gazing balls away from direct sunlight during warm weather. They function like magnifying lenses, focusing the sun’s beams onto a single point, which can spark fires, harm garden furnishings, or even scorch the lawn.

While Home Bargains is offering a budget-friendly chrome set for £12.99, similar alternatives can be found at other high street retailers and online stores. Amazon stocks the Fahd Traders Stainless Steel Gazing Globe Set for £39.99. The collection features three highly polished mirror balls measuring 20cm, 25cm, and 28cm. Customers have remarked that they bring a “captivating shimmer” to ponds or patios.

B&Q has a set of four Stainless Steel Gazing Balls available for £19.99 that bear a striking resemblance to Home Bargains’ offering. These can only be bought online, as they’re not stocked in physical stores.

For those seeking an illuminated alternative, Dunelm is selling a Solar Outdoor Mood Ball Light for £30. The solar-powered ornament lights up automatically after dark with “warm ambient lighting”.
