Need help trying to remove this stump. I don’t wanna put any chemical since it says it takes a lot of time I need to get to it within a week or so. I have a chain saw but it keeps going dull on me I have changed the blade 3 times any suggestions what I’m doing wrong with the chainsaw? I thought about a stump grinder but that’s last resort.

If you touch the chain to the dirt for an instant, it’s less sharp I’m told. Dirt on the bark also dulls it fast. Stump removal is tough stuff. I dig, use a sawzall (even into the dirt to try to hit roots) with long pruning blades, a big prybar, an axe/mattock – but only if I have to! A weeklong campfire isn’t enough on the tough guys.
I’ve burned stumps before. Make a fire around and eventually under the stump.
One question: will you need to get rid of the stump (below the soil line) or is more-or-less at the soil line okay?
If the former, get someone in with a stump grinder.
I find the best way to get rid of a stump or a bush is to attach a chain to it and use a truck to pull it out. That may not be possible in this situation. Try digging around the stump to expose the roots, then cut the big roots with shallow passes, and use a pry bar or winch to lift it out. Good Luck!
Just gotta start digging around the major roots and cutting through them with a saber saw or sawzall
What we do when removing trees of similar size (depending on type etc) is cut them off high so you have some leverage to pull the bugger out when you’ve cut some of the roots with the saber
Dig around it, find all the lateral roots and cut them with a sawzall, use a 6’ pry bar to get it out/expose more roots to cut
The more I dig the more roots I find there’s like no end to this tree 🙁
Stump grinder is your only resort . As soon as a chainsaw hits dirt it is dull .
Well, I’m a city boy born and raised living in a high-rise so I have no experience whatsoever. But I’ve heard of many instances where people attach a tree stump to the bumper of their truck and pull it out.
Rent a stump grinder or hire someone with one
