Better Homes and Gardens doubles up for 2026 with new Saturday night slot

Better Homes and Gardens is set for a major shake-up in 2026, with the long-running lifestyle favourite expanding to two nights a week on Channel 7 and 7plus.

From 7.00pm, beginning Friday 6 March and Saturday 7 March, the program will air across both nights, marking the first time the series has secured a permanent Saturday evening position.

The move comes as Channel 7 looks to bolster its lifestyle offering following the end of its AFL Saturday night broadcasts.

The extended format will see audiences offered more of the show’s established mix of DIY, decorating, gardening, cooking, pet care and family-focused stories.

According to the network, the additional episode each week will provide viewers with more practical and budget-conscious ideas aimed at helping Australians improve their homes and gardens.

Host Johanna Griggs said the expansion would offer audiences a welcome distraction.

“With so many bonkers things happening in the world right now we are thrilled to be able to bring not one but two nights of Better Homes and Gardens to screens; which provides escapism, uplifting viewing, and stories about passionate, brilliant people told in a positive, celebratory way.

Plus we have loads of ideas and inspiration that anyone of any age can enjoy.”

Executive Producer Russell Palmer said the Saturday addition would deepen the program’s relationship with its audience.

“Giving our loyal audience a second bite of the Better Homes and Gardens cherry each Saturday night is a great way to extend our connection into people’s lives.

When our expert presenters give us real and meaningful stories, our viewers love that relationship.

Just like a good relationship, we’ll be seeing more of each other.

It’s not only a great chance for our existing viewers to reconnect but people who don’t get to see us on a Friday can get to know us better across the weekend.”

The new season will feature Johanna Griggs, Adam Dovile (DIY), Charlie Albone (landscaping), Colin Fassnidge (chef), Clarissa Feildel (cook), Dr Harry Cooper (vet), Graham Ross (gardening), Juliet Love (decorating and design), Melissa King (gardening) and Pete Colquhoun (architect).

Better Homes and Gardens airs 7.00pm Fridays and Saturdays from 6 and 7 March on Channel 7 and 7plus.
