Hi, I'm currently trying to design a dress/outfit inspired by Cicely Mary Barker’s "Flower Fairies", and am in need of inspiration.

I want to find a flowers that has some visual unique elements that I can incorporate into the design, but I'm struggling to find any though just googling.

I would love it if people could share any flowers they know of that might make for a fun outfit. Any suggestions appreciated!

Bleeding hearts (lamprocapnos spectabilis) has got to be one of my favorite unique flowers! Been fascinated with it since I was young.

Bleeding hearts could be very high fashion with structured shoulders and a drop waist

What a great project. I love her flower fairies. I am not sure you need more than to look through all four seasons of the books and pock one that speaks to and seems actually doable with your skills level. Personally, I think this is a lovely project and I’d love to see the final pieces, if you feel like sharing them!

    Irises and toad lilies!

How do we feel about TREE flowers? Catalpa are so lovely up close, chestnut flowers are lovely too, and mimosa flowers are like wild pink puffs!

  11. Lycoris, it’s quite popular and very unique plant included in fashion, mysteries, dramas and games. Definitely check it out. I’d die to get it in my garden but it’s not possible in my area
