I have this giant hydrangea bush in front of my house. It’s likely 15-25 years old. Every year, the flowers won’t fully flower but get these weird dead crispy things that would have been flowers. I have tried snipping all the brown crispy things but they still come back as only half blooms.
My husband says it’s because the bush is at the end of its life but I’m really hoping to revive it this spring. Any ideas on what’s going on?

Might need some compost, or might be a fungal infection. Try spraying it with copper antifungal stuff.
