Two jar tanks

I just made these two tanks their both about 5L each any tips to get them started before I put any shrimp in them? I put about an inch of soil with root tabs in each jar and I capped that with gravel and an inch of sand so that the soil doesn’t leach into the water column. I didn’t see any stem plants that I liked but what I did put in them should be fast growing so I have my hopes up.
