I’ve had this plant for a while, and the leaves have always just been plain. But this one has just popped up and has ‘holes’ in it. Does anyone know why it’s different? I don’t know the kind of plant it is, but I don’t know why there’s one different leaf

This is a monstera. When it establishes and matures, it puts out more leaves like this – and eventually puts out bigger leaves with bigger fenestrations (holes). New leaves are lighter and brighter green and they unfurl slowly. Eventually it will darken.

It’s maturing! Well done for caring for it

That looks like a brand new leaf. When they first come out they look like this but give it a week or two and it will look like the others. Mine does this every time.

  4. More specifically, this is a monstera deliciosa friend! They develop these holes (‘fenestrations’) in the wild as protection from the wind!
