Soft core material here but after 8 months, upgrading light and switching to this type of moss pole – my monsterra I purchased from marketplace last summer is sprouting it’s first new leaf.
Also, should I just chop off the lowest hanging stem? What do you guys do?

No reason to chop if it’s healthy
What would I do? I’d move the light to the front so that all of the leaves are lit. I would not remove the leaf, you said stem but there’s only one stem, because it can still photosynthesize light for energy and removing it means that your plant would have less available energy to grow. 💚
edit: Oh, there are two stems, but I still think that you meant petiole.
