Advice Needed! Keep soil and rocks from running down stairs!
Hi there!
I am very new to the landscaping world and was wondering if there was any advice on how to keep runoff during storms from collecting on my stairs as I live on a slant and catch a lot of water from the house above.
Not sure on your question, but that tree in picture 4 scares me. That looks like a disaster waiting to happen.

Install a French drain and direct water somewhere else.

Your yard has no plants to hold soil so of course you’ll have terrible erosion issues. Hire a landscape designer if you can’t find your own inspiration

Install 6” x 6” x random lengths mortared stone edging to match the walkway stone in front of the walkway to divert runoff in a new direction is a fix to this situation although may cause a new problem. Hard to say what the new problem will be without seeing more pictures.

Could you slope it the other direction?

That’s going to cost you. Kill the tree it’s not safe might need a crane it’s 10,000 a day by me so kill all of them start over

If the dog is named Soilandrocks, you could just install a baby gate

plant low creeping groundcover plants that will tolerate harsh environments.

You’ve landscaped with loose rocks. The rocks will always migrate. It will be never ending frustrations until they are gone. Remove all the rocks and landscape with plants that are recommended for slopes or erosion control in your area. Something like a creeping or low growing juniper would be better suited than a boxwood.

Those stairs are an accident waiting to happen 😳

Tell them to stop, turn around, and walk next time.

Plants. All sorts seedums and other rock plants may thrive there.

Perhaps periodically use a snow blower to hurl the rocks into the neighbors yard?

What happened on the left side wall? It looks like it failed at some point and was poorly rebuilt. The right side looks relatively neat and cohesive….the left side, >kaboom<
