i want one but i’d only like it outside i fear. what are the care requirements for this? my dad had a venus fly trap but didn’t feed it so.. it sadly died and i don’t want our family to carry on the torch of murdering carnivorous plants.
Not feeding it was certainly not the reason your flytrap died.
If you have a cold winter where you live, you can’t keep Nepenthes outside.

Love them! Mine was super easy care. The only thing different than most other plants is that you need to use distilled water/rain water/RO water to water it. I blasted mine with light and soaked it when the substrate dried and it thrived. Lost it during a move mid winter unfortunately, but definitely getting one again in the warmer months.

Yes! These are the easier of the carnivorous because they actually use photosynthesis a bit too. They like lots of light.
Keep it very moist and throw a fly in there every once in a while (even dead ones you find on your windowsill if you’re keeping it inside) and it will do great. If you feed dead flies make sure to agitate the pitcher a little to stimulate the enzymes.
When I kept a different pitcher outside (serrascenia) it caught SO MANY FLIES AND YELLOWJACKETS it was brutal. I would look in every day and there would be carnage. I wonder how a nepenthes would do.

Mine refuses to die no matter how little I take care of it. Won’t stop growing either.

I’m in Canada, and I have one of those in my bathroom for a few years now. There is a small window but I keep growing light on during the day as well. You can feed it with fish food 🙂

Depends where you live. Years ago, I gifted one of these to someone I know who lives in San Diego. It is ridiculously happy there I don’t think they do anything or even fertilize it. It ended up vining up a tree so it’s in partial sun

They are pretty easy. I killed mine because I let it freeze accidentally when we had an early frost one night and I wasnt checking the weather apps
