Seeing my first crocus blooms and the first sighting of a robin were personal holidays for me when I lived in Maine. They were my reminders that one season of natural beauty was giving way to another, great things were happening.

For a flower so small that only lasts a day or two, they sure do bring a lot of joy. I adore Crocuses.

depending on what Zone you’re in, you may also be able to get an Autumn reminder that Spring will (eventually) arrive by planting saffron. it has similar flowers, with a nice fragrance. (i’m in USDA 7b. saffron crocus seems to overwinter reasonably well here.)
