Scale bugs. From the looks of it they’ve been there since 2023.

  2. Can we see a before picture if you have it? Was it kinda brown before? I feel stupid saying it looks like scale but the dots are too random to be anything cellular with the plant. The distribution of the dots lead me to be believe it was a scale bug fuck fest prior to the storm and they all died during the freeze and are deteriorating.

Snow and ice had nothing to do with that scale infestation. It started long ago

Isolate this cactus, use insecticide soap or neem oil, very diluted, and that should help. Do it again in a couple of days. This is a serious infestation!

Tbh the ice storm likely killed all ( or most ) of those scale insects, just wipe them off and keep an eye on it.

Every day I log into this site to be shown the worst scale and mealybug infestations I’ve ever seen. Not just here, just every plant sub.
