Hey everyone, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to water my gibbaeum dispar or if I should let the outer leaves dry up. Maybe somebody can share their experience with me 😊

I would watch mostly the newer leaves for signs of thirst but Gibbaeum can stack up a few growing pairs (as yours is doing). You might give it a bit of water and see if those big leaves plump up a bit or continue senescing.

I got one in a similar condition and after a few very light squirts even the older leaves plumped up and are still going strong while putting out new pairs at the meristems.

As long as the soil fully dries between waters giving it a few drops and seeing how it responds won’t hurt it!

I wouldn’t. It shouldn’t hurt them to leave them alone (with light) to see what happens. Keep a close eye on them, jic. 🙂

I might suggest that this may be a gibbaeum album, but it’s hard 100% because of how desiccated the leaves are… just based on the more angular/keeled leaves and the fact that they’re kinda ruddy red instead of greyish green. G. dispar and G. album should both be winter growers, as they’re located on the SW coast of South Africa in winter rainfall areas. I’d give them water now, water them regularly until late spring and start to taper off and give them a summer dormancy.
