Hi!

I recently bought five new calatheas (had some already) and making a little Calathea corner. I would like to have some advice.

  1. Is the grow light placed too far away from the plants?

  2. How many hours would you suggest the grow light should be active?

  3. Being a fairly new Calathea mom, is there anything I should think of?

Thanks in advance!

Someone recommended the photone app on here, and it seems pretty good for targeting the ideal PPFD range for them. Idk the hours/day off the top of my head. Mine seem good with the nice long hours I’m giving them. Filtered/distilled/rainwater only. They like consistent moisture, never dry or soggy. Good job with that humidifier right there. Mine love living next to my humidifier. Some (my rattlesnake and my rosy) seem to like being tucked back in the shelf with another shelf acting as a bit of a shade to the fairly bright light I’ve got (which they like… nearby? like goths with umbrellas out on a sunny beach?). The white fusion seems to prefer more light (guessing the limited chlorophyll is why) toward the front of my shelf. I’m not sure how good a guideline this will turn out to be, but generally I’m thinking darker leaves tend to need a bit less light while lighter and especially white leaves need more. You could add things to give the ones who like more light height and keep the less light demanding ones low to give yourself that kind of range as well

I’m new as well though, so big ass grain of salt with all that
