Hey!

I have a pinstripe calathea that has seen better days (one of those days shown in the pic). Now I am fighting a massive spider mite infestation with (hopefully still) a thousand lil helpers (P. Persimilis).

I can’t seem to bump the humidity above 55% even with a humidifier running all day next to the plant. I was thinking of putting it into a covered shelf unit and thus relocating to a better place (further from the radiator and the window cause now it is pretty close to both – I know now that it is not ideal). I would try my best to keep the airflow going in the covered area still if I relocate.

Would the relocation (temperature and light decreasing slightly) and the sudden increase in humidity stress the hell out of the plant even more or would it be worth a shot to help fight the infestation and keep the persimilis thriving?

Please be constructive with your criticism and accept the fact that I’m very naive and delusional regarding the future of this plant.
