KAPAA – Kauai Ocean Safety Bureau officials are advising no swimming or other ocean activities at Kealia Beach due to a shark sighting.

OSB officials report that a 12-foot tiger shark was sighted at Kealia Beach today, Jan. 24, at approximately 3:20 p.m. No injuries were reported.

As a safety precaution, OSB officials have posted warning signs and will continue to monitor the area.

Lifeguards will reassess the area later this evening. If there are no other sightings, the beach will reopen to ocean activities on Sunday, Jan. 25. Updates will be provided if more information becomes available.
