I know they have a reputation of being difficult but I've found that pv you don't over water them they're pretty resilient and can often be salvaged.

Take this. From this angle it looks a disaster. I bought it from Hammer Barn marked down dramatically as it was very sad and very overwatered.

I've had it in my kitchen for quite a long time and the other day when watering noticed a new leaf! On closer inspection I reckon there are another three at least on their way (not all can be seen in second picture). Yes, I've had to put up with a very average looking plant for a while but my patience is paying off!

    Awww. A glimmer of hope!! I have 2 calathea ornatas both in worst position than urs. I just dug them out, cleaned them up a bit, potted them together. Let’s see what happens!!!

    I’ve also cut off all the ugly parts so at a quick glance it looks ok. Super quick. But then you see a chopped up tree looking hurt!!
