After picking up back-to-back crucial Quad 1 wins last week, St. John’s won’t have the chance to add bulk to their tournament resume on Tuesday night, but could undo the progress they made with an improbable loss or an uncomfortably narrow victory that tanks their metrics against the last-place Marquette Golden Eagles, who head to Madison Square Garden off their worst six-game start to conference play since they joined the Big East in 2005.

What to watch for in the Storm
Paint Patrol – St. John’s hammered Creighton on the boards on Saturday, outrebounding the Bluejays by a total of 36-23. Normally vulnerable on the offensive glass, the Red Storm played with more size and only allowed two offensive rebounds in the 17-point win. They’ll look to carry that over against Marquette, who ranks 142nd in offensive rebound percentage and 221st in defensive rebound percentage.
Everybody Eats – Against Providence, St. John’s sans Zuby Ejiofor were criticized for meager offensive production. One week later, versus Creighton, Ejiofor had a fine 12-point performance, but he didn’t need to dominate. Five of his teammates also scored in double figures, and the team combined to record 19 assists to only six turnovers. Could they continue that playmaking success against a Golden Eagles team that ranks 309th in opposing assists per game allowed, with 15.6 per game?
Out of Left Field – With Joson Sanon in the midst of a shooting slump, Liotopoulos has stepped up and is producing the finest scoring stretch of his college career. Over his last three games, he is averaging 11.3 points and shooting 9-of-17 from three (53.3%). Liotopoulos set career-highs in points scored (17), three-pointers made (five), and minutes played (29) in the win over Creighton.
