This stuff is covering the trees around here. The leaves (i think) are all pretty much perfect circles and look as if they are suctioned cupped to the trunk. They are very hard to pick off the tree and are just a little smaller than your palm. I’ve tried AI and google but nothing that comes up looks like it.

*Hoya imbricata*. It’s myrmecophilic plant, its leaves offering protection for ants.

*Hoya imbricata* is such a cool native species. They don’t harm the trees they grow on, but form a mutualistic relationship with ants where the ants get shelter under the leaves and the plants get nutrients. The ants help protect the *Hoya* and the trees from animals that might feed on them.
