Is this ready or should it break down more? The woody stuff is pine that I used for my chicken bedding. This is also the sifted pile

I’d add some more greens to help speed up the process, other than that it looks like perfect moisture levels and it’s coming along nicely

  2. Not ready yet. When its done there won’t be any really recognizable pieces in there and it’ll be basically black.

Definitely not ready. Looks like material that just been run through a shredder an not actually composted.

So dry. Is it just straight coconut coir or something?

    It should look like dirt.

You need water and greens in there my friend.

Probably pee on it a few times.

  6. I dont recognise that as compost. All my ready stuff is either black – or black with bits of other stuff in it. The stuff that is black with green or brown in, I run through a large filter made of mesh, and then a small filter made of mesh. If you were to run this through either – you would still end up with brown. Get some ‘compost starter’ or mix a fuck ton of nitrogen in it either via urine, or more greens from the wild.

Your on the right path. Add some moisture and cover with a tarp and let it do its thang. It’s gonna be nioce.

I thought this was a massive pile of ants for a second 😂😭

  9. Not even close to fully composted yet, its almost all wood shavings. Its a great base material to start mixing all your green waste into, it needs the greens to compost all the wood shavings. You could also use this as mulch, it will break down in contact with the soil and help maintain proper moisture level.
