These where a homewarming gift about 1 year and a half ago, so I'm determined to keep them alive but i have idea what im doing π Are these roots, do they need covering/trimming. They live in the kitchen window, plenty of light, watered every few weeks (when I remember) the pot in water for about 30 mins. Haven't changed soil or pot from when I've had them. The flowers have since died but a new one is going through π€

Looks good tbh! No need to trim anything rn, just trim off the flower stalk when itβs done flowering. You can also look into repotting after itβs done flowering for the season, here is a good guide on that https://youtu.be/cWFyQzJbGDg
For watering you might want to increase the frequency and water every time you see the roots inside the pot turn silvery the way the visible roots are on this picture.
For extra pampering wipe away dust from the top side of the leaves with a damp towel and look into giving it fertiliser from time to time (research orchid fertilisers, they need a lot less fertiliser than other types of plants so starting with orchid specific ones and having a less-is-more attitude will prevent you from overfertilising and causing burns in the roots)
