IMO these are your options:
1. Use chopsticks or something similar to gently make a small spot to add the granules between the foliage. Could also use a funnel or make one from paper to help pour them into the small spot.
2. Change to a liquid systemic that is added to the water instead of granules so it would be watered into the soil.
3. Scout the plants more often and dont use systemics. They are usually in my experience only good for 4-6 weeks (it may say 8 weeks on the label) so you’re really only covered for 1/3rd of the year at most with the method you are using at 6 month intervals.
Are you still looping vines back into the pot? You have really good pot coverage, so I would go through and gently find as many vines as you can to hang over the side. If the growth is too thick on top of the pot, the leaves at the bottom won’t get enough light and they’ll start to die and be reabsorbed so the plant can direct resources to a better spot with more light.
