A woman has shared her frustration after her Leicestershire home was targeted by an alleged plant thief two nights in a row.
Security footage shows a man approaching the front garden of Jayne Sanderson’s mother’s home, located in Belton Street, Shepshed, on December 12.
The first clip shows a man approaching the soil, where Jayne’s brother had planted 10 rose bushes for his mum, ready for her to enjoy in the summer.
The man is seen pulling one of the plants out of the ground and placing it in a bag before walking away.
Jayne said that the man had “come prepared” with the bag and said he used a cloth so that he would not be pricked by the thorns.
The first incident occurred at 10.50pm on Friday, December 12.
On the next night, what appears to be the same man, who wore a cap and jacket on both occasions, approached the soil again.
He was seen pulling another of the rose bushes from the ground and placing it in a bag before walking off, at 11.07pm on Saturday, December 13.
In her social media post, Jayne advised others to “keep an eye” on their plants. She said: “My poor mum is having a terrible time at the moment. So, a couple of weeks ago my brother bought 10 rose bushes for her front garden ready [for her] to enjoy in the summer.
“Some old boy decided to take it upon himself to steal two – one on a Friday night at 10.50pm. He came prepared with a bag and cloth, not to get pricked. Then again, on the following Saturday night at 11.07pm.
“I know in the scheme of things it’s only roses, but it’s still very sad and frustrating. So folks, keep an eye on your plants.”

Jayne said that she had not contacted the police as she felt they “won’t be interested” in a couple of rose bushes.
She said they are unsure who has stolen the rose bushes, but that a friend of hers enhanced an image of the man, which revealed he may be “a lot younger” than what they had first thought.
The post shocked Jayne’s friends and people in her local community, with some branding the incident as “disgusting”. One person commented: Seriously? That’s insane. And pathetic.” Another said: “Oh my good god. That is just disgusting. Shameful.”
A third Facebook user added: “That’s awful, Jayne. Why would people even think to do that!” Someone else said: “Absolutely disgusting!!! So sorry this has happened, Jayne.”
A further person wrote: “This is awful! People are just cruel!” A sixth commenter added: “He needs to buy his own. Disgusting.”
