I chopped off the top of my friend because it was all stem and all the growth was on top. When the new leaf started to come up, they grew very fast. But why do they have those brown spots?
Do they have too much light they are in a south floor to ceiling window. I am in northern New England. It is winter and the days are short.

It looks like edema, which is usually caused by inconsistent watering. It usually happens when a plant takes up too much water at once and has trouble getting rid water. It’s usually never an issue and usually grows out when the leaf gets bigger. I’ve never seen it as bad as on yours though and it’s usually gone by the time the leaves are that big. So I’m not sure this is correct.
How are you watering it?
Looks like rust fungus to me. The spores can spread, so I’d cut off any affected leaves and treat the rest with either hydrogen peroxide/water mix or a neem oil mix.
