Spend $1-2 per pound. Ignore the packaging. All organic fertilizers are basically the same and just a boost for plants. They DO NOT replace compost. That’s what plants need to thrive.
Look for an N-P-K number around a 4-4-4 up or down a couple numbers, is just fine for a home garden. Don’t buy separate fertizers for different plants. A single bag works for them all.

For ornamental I think grass fertilizer might be an even cheaper option for most soils. Most soils have adequate p&k. It’s n that you need to apply and grass fertilizer is mostly n.
