SPECIAL TO FLORIDA WEEKLY

Hydroponic Gardening Workshop coming to Centennial Park . -STOCK PHOTO

A Hydroponic Gardening Workshop will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Centennial Park Recreation Center.

Participants will learn how to grow their own hydroponic lettuce in a non-circulating system. This simple, homemade unit uses a hydroponic bucket design geared for backyard vegetable gardeners — perfect for small spaces.

In this workshop, you will learn the principles of hydroponic production using this easy-to-build model. Each participant will take home a complete kit, including seedlings — just add water. You will receive hands-on experience from being taught by Master Gardener Volunteer Bob Prier, an actual hydroponic practitioner.

This class will be held from 1to 2:30 p.m., and again from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $21.99. Registration is required at the following links:

Centennial Park is located at 1120 Centennial Blvd., Port Charlotte.
