Construction could start soon on the beer garden planned for the property next to the Trader Joe’s site in Lafayette.
Igloo Properties LLC, which is registered to Eric Macicek and Braden Eddy of Lafayette, closed on a deal last week to buy 2.872 acres along Bluebird Drive just west of the Camellia Boulevard intersection, land records show.
Sale price was just over $2.25 million. The Saloom family was the seller.
In June the project got the OK from Lafayette Consolidated Government’s city zoning commission for the project, which was identified in documents as the Bluebird Beer Garden. Stipulations included no outdoor music.
Commissioners had to rezone the property to commercial mixed (CM-1) and grant it a conditional use permit to operate as a bar or lounge.
Plans at that point included food truck vendors on the site and is projecting 70% of its sales to be liquor and 30% food. It also indicated it would seat 388, which includes outdoor seating, and stay open until midnight during the week, 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 11 p.m. Sundays.
That stretch of Camellia Boulevard has had a mix of commercial development and medical office construction in recent years, including the Rouses Market that opened early last year.
Trader Joe’s closed on its property last month, and Red River Bank will break ground on its location across Bluebird Drive next to the Rouses.
