I'm looking for the name of a specific phenomenon I've observed in the peat bogs of Tierra del Fuego (specifically in the Cordillera Darwin).
I've noticed "columns" made entirely of moss growing right on top of the rocks. I have searched online but haven't found any specific records or names for these structures. Does anyone know if there is a technical term for this type of growth or if it's a known characteristic of the local bryophytes?

Huh. Old growth moss. How about that.
