I would stick both of these in water and wait; It could take weeks for the roots to start growing. I have some that I’ve had in water for about four weeks that are only now starting to grow roots. Once there are roots, put them in moist soil.

You can cut between the nodes, let it callous, then use a variety of mediums to prop. Personally, I prefer a mix of perlite and vermiculite in 5 oz plastic cups. Then keep it humid. It’s a set it and forget it method.
ETA: this method doesn’t need leaves to produce growth
