A Monstera branch broke off and I cut under a node, but this is the inside. I don't see this brown color in YouTube tutorials… is it rotting?

I guess I'll stick it in water anyways and hope for the best… any advice is welcome

Yeah it might be a goner. Rot will most likely spread to the entire branch

Oh that might be bacterial disease at this point. Is it oozing? Get a copper fungicide. 💚

every single one of my light colored stem philos (gigas, e.g.) do that after a cut. you’re just seeing the vascular tubes cross section in the center of the plant stand out as it tries to seal/heal the cut surface, nothing more.

not a fungus, not a disease, not an infection. not.

stick it back in the water, add a drop or two of peroxide daily to the container to help slow water fouling. change the water 2x/week or weekly depending on look/smell.

if it was mine it would be in a jar w/ wet sphagnum, or pumice, for rooting. better than plain water.
