Today, Im starting my journey with this jade plant. This is a prop from the most majestic jade I’ve seen in person, at a thrift store in town. It lives in the window and they always have these cuttings available and I finally picked one up. I haven’t done anything yet other than give it a chair and a

UV light.

Any tips?

I have some general succulent / cactus soil I got from Ace, I’m planning on repotting it soon into my smallest pot with drainage holes. It will get this UV light every day. Anything else?

  1. Congratulations! My best and only advice is to read through the wiki topics before repotting. They are well organized and super helpful.

We have helper bot triggers but I’ll save you the wall of text 😉 and refer you to the wiki itself. Best of luck and I look forward to seeing your updates.

Take it out of mug and put in something with drainage holes and water when leaves look wrinkly is what I do

Mix that succulent soil with 50% perlite. Also you need a full spectrum grow light, not UV. SANSI has good bulbs.

congrats, they are my fav plant! here’s 3 main points

    1) bright light. full south facing windows or bright and close grow lights

    2) drainage; you’ll want a pot with drainage and chunky soil. try mixing 60/40 succulent soil with perlite. jades do not want to sit with wet feet (roots)

    3) bottom water when the leaves are bendable or flexible; this is a sign of dehyrdation.

    good luck!

Every house plant I had growing up in Brooklyn apartments looked just like that!
