My partner received these seeds via mail. They were supposed to be sunflower seeds, but they don't look like any sort of sunflower seed I stumble upon when googling around and looking at sunflower seed varieties.

Don’t plant them. China sellers send invasive seeds.

For what its worth tho they look like some wildflowers.

Only buy seeds for reputable online stores. The amount of seed forgery is crazy

They look like ‘farmers friends’ which is a pastoral weed in australia but idk where you are or where you got it shipped from and you haven’t shown us an individual seed so its tricky to say, perhaps try planting one and IDing the plant, also ask for a refund from the seller since that isnt sunflower seed

If you know they are from North America, I would say Sulfur Cosmos.

They look like Cosmos and definitely not sunflower seeds.

Plant em what’s the worst that could happen👹

In my opinion (which many others will agree) it’s not a good idea to plant mystery seeds. Or even open mystery packages. (I mean open the box but not a sealed bag)

A few years back I naively ordered “wasabi seeds” from China.
When I grew them they came up as something resembling cat mint… sadly there were no cats around to test the theory. They actually refunded my £1 😀

Growing wasabi is going to be a project for the future…though my priority will be growing watercress.
