Hey r/arborists,
Construction crew on the other side of our fence managed to knock a branch off our cedar elm. 😬 Trying to figure out if it was already weak from heart rot or if it was just bad luck. I don’t see the classic hollow or holes, just some red/brown discoloration. Could be normal red cedar coloring or maybe heart rot?
Arborist coming soon, but curious what you all think in the meantime!

Also it looks like decay based on how hollow-looking the fallen branch seems, but I’m not sure (not an arborist)
